TOP 4 reasons why I do NOTHING on Christmas🎄

크리스마스는 한국에서 공휴일이지만, 설, 추석처럼 가족, 친척이 모여 특별한 음식을 먹는 명절이 아니에요.

Christmas is a public holiday in Korea, but unlike Seollal or Chuseok, it’s not a traditional holiday where families and relatives gather and eat special food.

크리스마스의 의미는 사람에 따라 달라요.

The meaning of Christmas varies depending on the person.

남친 & 여친: 데이트하며 선물을 주고받는 날

BF & GF: A day to go on dates and exchange gifts

부모: 산타클로스를 대신해(?) 선물을 준비하는 날

Parents: A day to prepare gifts on behalf of Santa Claus

어린이: 산타클로스에게 선물 받는 날

Children: A day to receive gifts from Santa Claus

기독교인: 교회 가는 날

Christians: A day to go to church

저는 남편이 있으므로, 남친이 없어요. 😲

Since I have a husband, I don’t have a BF.

저는 자식이 없으므로 부모가 아니에요. 😲

Since I don’t have children, I’m not a parent.

그리고 나이가 많으니 어린이도 아니에요. 😲

And since I’m old, I’m not a child either.

종교도 없습니다. 😲

Also, I don’t have a religion.

뭐 하지? What should I do?

그래서 저에게는 크리스마스가 특별한 날이 아닙니다. 😒

So, Christmas isn’t a special day for me.

저와 비슷한 수많은 한국인들에게 크리스마스는 그냥 회사와 학교에 안 가는 ‘쉬는

날’입니다. 👍

To many Koreans who are like me, Christmas is just a “day off” when you

don’t go to work or school.

그래도 크리스마스 장식이 있는 곳에 가면 즐거워요. 

🎄 Still, it’s fun to visit places with Christmas decorations.
